Why you really need an amplifier ?
Headsets
with amplifiers are well worth the extra money for 2 key reasons.
One, they’re much safer for your employees who spend
many hours on the phone. Two, they keep your company in compliance
with Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) noise-exposure standards.
According to OSHA standards, your agents should not be exposed
to any continuous noise greater than 85 dB during an 8-hour
shift—including that of a dial
tone…or to any intermittent sound greater than 94 dB—such as a person’s
voice. The only way to meet these standards is to have a compression
circuit in the receive path of the headset.
Unfortunately, most phone systems do not include this advanced circuitry.
Instead they rely on less expensive "maximum acoustical limiters" which only
attack spikes louder than 118 dB—rather than the 85 dB and 94 dB
levels recommended by OHSA. This means that when you use headsets that
connect directly
to your phones, your employees may be vulnerable to excessive noise and
potential hearing loss.
On the other hand, when you use headsets with amplifiers from Innova
Telecom—and
this is the good news—you protect your associates from these dangers. And
you protect your company from incurring unnecessary employee-injury and OSHA
non-compliance expenses. Amplifiers have built-in compression circuits to ensure
your agents aren’t exposed to noise levels above the levels OSHA
has determined to be safe.
